2004 Jack McLaughlin Memorial BC PGA Pro-Junior Championship
The 2004 Jack McLaughlin Memorial BC PGA Pro-Junior Championship was played July 13th at the Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club. The championship is sponsored by Top-Flite Canada.
John Lopez of the Westwood Plateau Golf Academy lead his team of juniors Steven Moody, Shael Mazzone, and Geoff Sluggett to a two-net best ball of 118, claiming the title by three. Second place went to the team from the Ledgeview G&CC, with professional Brent McDuff, and juniors Lucas Bogden, Odell Brown, Spencer Lightburn.
Third place honors went to the team from Myrtle Point GC, with professional Dan Dupuis, and juniors Cody Romanyshyn , Steven Devries, and Tyler Perkins.
The Myrtle Point team took home other honors as well, with Dan Dupuis taking the professional competition with a 67, and Cody Romanyshyn winning the long drive competition with a 303 yard ball.
The full field of junior golfers, and golf professional from around the province were treated to an exceptional day of weather at an outstanding golf facility. The scenic and challenging Sunshine Coast layout was in immaculate condition for the Championship, with fast smooth greens and tight fairways. The staff at Sunshine Coast create a memorable experience as well, and made the day enjoyable for all participants.
The BC PGA would like to extend a special thanks to Head Professional Jim Pringle for his hospitality, and for coordinating the efforts of the Sunshine Coast team on-site during the Championship. Thank you also to every employee at the Sunshine Coast, for being such gracious hosts to our Championship and its participants.
Thank you also to Top-Flite Canada for their continued support of the Championship. Top-Flite is the most senior of any BC PGA sponsor, a 13-year commitment to the BC PGA Pro-Junior that dates back to 1992. In fact, the BC PGA Pro-Junior got off the ground in the early 90's with the coordination of efforts between Dale Schienbein of the Seymour Golf & Country Club, and the late Craig Forsyth of Top-Flite. A Pro-Am in memory of Mr. Forsyth will take place August 9th at Mayfair Lakes Golf Course.
