Dong Su sets course record at 2006 B.C. Junior Boys' Championship
Cranbrook Golf Club, Cranbrook, B.C., July 5, 2006 - Kevin Spooner, of West Vancouver moved into first place today at 10-under par 134 after carding another 5-under par 67 in the second round of the 2006 B.C. Junior Boys' Championship.
The low round of day went to Richmond's, Dong Su who fired an impressive 7-under par 65 to set the course record at Cranbrook Golf Club and move into second place at 8-under par 136. Burnaby's, Rafael Lee maintains third position at 7-under par 137 followed by Dale Stypula of Cranbrook and Ian Mulder of Abbotsford who sit tied at fourth place after posting 6-under par 138.
Following today's competition, the Zone and Club Championship winners were announced. Marine Drive Golf Club, represented by Eugene Wong and Rafael Lee won the Club Championship. The Zone Championship went to Zone 3 competitors, Nick Taylor, Ian Mulder and Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford and Adam Karim of Coquitlam.
Pace of Play continues to be excellent with 34 players at even par or better heading into the third round.
The championship calls for 72 holes of stroke play, with the starting field of 155 being cut to the low 70 and ties after 36 holes. The roster for the final rounds can be found at www.bcga.org. Action commences on Thursday, July 6 with starting times beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The Junior Boys' Championship is one of 13 provincial championships conducted annually by the BCGA. Spectators are welcome any day of the championship. Additional information can be found on the BCGA website, www.bcga.org.
