Chinese to send two players to the 2006 Investor’s Group Amateur Championship

VANCOUVER, B.C. June 27, 2006 – The British Columbia Golf Association (BCGA) announced today that two special exemptions have been extended to players from the People’s Republic of China, to compete in the 2006 Investor’s Group B.C. Amateur Championship.

“We are pleased to be able to showcase why B.C. is truly Canada’s golf capital to the biggest emerging market for golf in the world,” says Kris Jonasson, Executive Director of the BCGA.

These exemptions come as a result of several weeks of discussions between the Beijing International Golf
Development Foundation (BIGDF) and the BCGA. Travelling on special visas that were facilitated by a direct appeal by the BCGA, Xiaoming Li and Hao Wen's will be the first golfers from Mainland China to compete for British Columbia’s Amateur title.

Accompanying Li and Wen will be Wei Wang, Vice-president and Secretary General of BIGDF and Jianzhong Cao a director of BIGDF. “Throughout, their official visit I look forward to discussing with the Chinese delegation how we can best
work together to benefit the game of golf in both countries,” says Jonasson.

ABOUT THE BIGDF: The BIGDF was established to introduce and develop the game of golf to the largest emerging economic market in the world. The BIGDF Board of Directors, represented by some of the most important business and political leaders, in China see golf as an important stepping stone to social development.

ABOUT XIAOMING LI: 47 year old, Xiaoming Li started playing golf in 1995. Li’s accomplishments include: 2004 Lining Cup (China City Tournament) Champion team member, 2005 Beijing Amateur Tournament South Beijing Station Champion, 2005 National Amateur Championship Mobile Cup Champion and in April 2006 he qualified for the Volvo Euro Tournament China Open.

ABOUT HAO WEN: 38 year old Hao Wen's bio started to play golf in 1999.Wen’s accomplishments include: 2003 winner of Group A of Benz Cup China Area and 2005 Beijing Area Champion of the China Mobiel Cup.
