Jessica Wallace wins 2006 Junior Girls' Championship
Jessica Wallace of Langley, B.C. continued her solid play with a final round 1-over par 72 to claim the Sweeny trophy at the 2006 B.C. Junior Girls’ Championship at Shuswap Lake Estates Golf Club. Wallace’s three-day total of even par 213 put her four shots ahead of second place finisher and last year’s champion, Sue Kim of Langley, B.C.
“I’ve come pretty close in the past two or three years but couldn’t pull it together,” says Wallace. “I started the round with a birdie and then Sue Kim didn’t get off to a good start. Sue was keeping herself in a good position though and she kept me on my toes for the most part.”
Surrey’s, Pamela Burneski finished tied for third with Surrey’s, Caroline Kim at 8-over 221 followed by fourth place finisher, Kristina Gargaro of Port Moody who shot 12-over 225.
Jessica Wallace of Langley, Sue Kim of Langley, Surrey’s, Pamela Burneski and Pitt Meadow’s, Caroline Kim will comprise the B.C, Team for the Royale National Junior Girls Championship in Bathurst, New Brunswick at Gowan Brae Golf & Country Club, August 8 – 11.
The Junior Girls’ Championship is one of 13 provincial championships conducted annually by the BCGA. Additional information can be found on the BCGA website, www.bcga.org.
