2008 Canadian Senior Women's Championship Final Results
Despite three days of weather that included downpours, fog, and winds that reached 50 km/h, Jackie Little of Port Alberni, B.C. led wire-to-wire and captured the title in her first appearance at the 2008 Royale Canadian Women’s Senior Championship played at Bally Haly Golf and Curling Club in St. John’s Nfld.
Little shot a final round of 9-over 80 to finish the 54-hole event at 14-over 227. That was five strokes better than her B.C. teammate, runner-up Lynda Palahniuk of Kelowna, B.C. at 19-over 232.
Little, who also won the B.C. Senior Women’s title is having a great summer in championship play. A member of the winning provincial teams at both the Canadian Women’s and Senior Women’s championships, she played her way to second place in both the Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur and Mid-Master, first in the B.C. Women’s Mid-Amateur, fourth in the B.C. Women’s Amateur. She tops it all off next month when she tees it up at the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur in Tulsa, Okla.
Alyson Martin of Vancouver, B.C. finished alone in fourth place at 28-over 241 – a score that also awarded her the 2008 Canadian Super Senior’s crown.
Karen Pultz of Surrey, B.C. and Holly Horwood of Vancouver, B.C. tied for fifth at 29-over 242 while Phyllis Laschuk of Vancouver, B.C. and Alison Murdoch of Victoria, B.C. carded a final 32-over 245 to tie at ninth.
