2009 Special Olympics Alberta AGM

On October 17th, Special Olympics Alberta (SOA) conducted their Annual General Meeting at the Coast Edmonton Plaza. The AGM started with Keynote Speaker Robert Pio Hajjar founder of
IDEAL-WAY - “Building bridges...pathway to inclusion for persons with intellectual disability".

SOA was also looking for a chance to run breakout sessions for their athletes to keep the day as interactive as possible. For the first time golf had the opportunity to participate as one of the demonstrations along with a fitness and stretching session. We did not have an opportunity to introduce the athletes to the full swing; however the athletes had a chance to hit some putts on our putting green for prizes. This proved to be very exciting for their athletes, coaches and administrators as they do not get the opportunity to participate in activities related to golf very often.

Thank you very much to Courtney Anderson and Special Olympics Alberta for their inclusion of golf at the Annual General Meeting and we look forward to any future involvement with their programs.

Future Links, presented by CN, is administered by the RCGA in conjunction with the Canadian PGA and Canada's provincial golf associations. Future Links programs range from the beginner to the elite golfer and are held in schools and golf clubs across the country.
