2nd Annual Robert Windrim Memorial Golf Tournament
2nd Annual Robert Windrim Memorial Golf Tournament to be held On October 4, 2003 the Tsawwassen Golf and Country Club is hosting the 2nd Annual Robert Windrim Memorial Golf Tournament. As many of you are aware, Robert was my best friend who sadly passed away last year after a brave and spirited fight against cancer.
This tournament is being held to honour Robert's life and to raise money for cancer research at BC Children's Hopsital. Robert was first diagnosed with cancer just before he turned 10 years old. It was not expected that he would survive it, but doctors started him on an aggressive program of chemotherapy and radiation. That, coupled with Robert's dogged determination, was successful. We will forever be grateful to the wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers and BC Children's Hospital for the extra 24 years of life they were able to give Robert. It is our sincere wish to help them help other children facing this horrible disease. Part of the proceeds from the entry fee will go to the BCCH as well as all of the proceeds from the 50/50 draw and the silent auction. Last year we managed to raise over $7,000 for the Children's Hospital and we are hoping to exceed that amount this year.
In order to raise as much money as possible, we do not want to buy prizes from the entry fee. We are, therefore, asking everyone for their help in soliciting and donating prizes. Any help will go a long way in helping to make this tournament a success.
