Arbutus Ridge Golf Club celebrates 25 Year Anniversary, starting with the Free Agent

Cobble Hill, B.C., November 28, 2011 – Arbutus Ridge Golf Club is pleased to be celebrating its 25 year anniversary in 2012 with a number of exciting promotions over the coming year.

The golf course was established in 1987 and plans are in place to celebrate the milestone, beginning with a Membership offer called the 'Free Agent' where golfers age 19-29 can play unlimited golf for $750 and golfers 30 up play for $1744. Arbutus Ridge will introduce more offers in 2012 promoting the Satellite Bar & Grille restaurant, green fees, Golf Shop retail items and tennis specials.

The 'Free Agent' Annual Membership offer is valid for new Members joining by Feb 29, 2012 and provides 25% off the annual rate for years one and two, then 10% off for year three. With this Annual Membership, new Members have the option to commit to just one year; or up to three years to take advantage of more savings. Free Agents will also receive a commemorative 25 year special logo golf shirt, two and a half months of golf for free, $100 in practice balls free, two guest green fees and the regular Membership privileges such as: no initiation fee, up to 50% off at over 20 other golf courses, GolfBC rewards points for all purchases, monthly payment plan option, up to 37% off practice balls, 20% off apparel in the Golf Shop and discounted rates for power carts as well as green fee guests.

'Arbutus Ridge Golf Club is very much open to the public, but Membership has its privileges', says General Manager Jason Lowe. 'We are celebrating the milestone anniversary in part with this Free Agent Membership offer where golfers can save up to $1400 over three years. We are also looking forward to launching other offers in the new year', he continues. 'The golf industry is facing many challenges right now and as operators we need to make the activity affordable as well as ensure we’re all doing our part to grow the game for all age categories. It is also important for us to raise public awareness to the social and environmental contributions the industry makes. At Arbutus Ridge we have a very strong junior program and Free Agents may choose the Intermediate Membership option for golfers 19-29, this age group will be able to play for $750 per year', finishes Lowe. On the environmental topic, Arbutus Ridge Golf Club has officially measured its carbon footprint and is taking on projects to become carbon neutral.

Construction of Arbutus Ridge Golf Club began on March 17, 1987 and opened for nine holes on May 13, 1988. Construction of the additional nine holes began in April 1990 and the facility officially opened for eighteen holes in 1991.

Arbutus Ridge Golf Club is 20 minutes from the outskirts of Victoria, 10 minutes from Duncan and 40 minutes from Nanaimo, in the Cowichan area of Vancouver Island. The course is directly surrounded by nine wineries within five to fifteen minutes, has a four star Golf Digest Rating and is one of the Top 10 Golf Courses in Canada for Value, as distinguished by Westjet UP! Magazine. The management team measures their performance based on the triple bottom line to incorporate social and environmental performance and has a staff led Greening Committee. The facility also includes the Satellite Bar & Grille, GBC Golf Academy and three indoor tennis courts.
