Fraser Captures BCPGA Championship
Fraser Mulholland of the Seymour Creek Golf Centre in North Vancouver put on a dazzling display of golf this week to claim the 2004 American Express / Titleist FootJoy BC PGA Championship.

Mulholland held the lead after 36 holes at 7-under par with rounds of 71 and 66. With several players nipping at his heels, including defending champion Phil Jonas of the McCleery Golf Course, Mulholland put up a superb performance in the final round, making 4 birdies and only one bogey on his way to a 3-under 69, and a three-day total of 10-under par 206. Mulholland takes home the winner's cheque of $6,000, as well as a trophy that bears the names of past winners like Dave Barr, Jim Rutledge, and Ray Stewart.

Jonas, the tournament's defending champion, went on a back-nine birdie run today in effort to chase down Mulholland, who at one point lead the Championship by 6. Jonas closed the gap to 3 strokes with 5 holes to play, but was unable to close that cap any further on the homeward holes. Jonas carded rounds of 72, 66 and 72 for a 6-under par total of 210, taking home $5,000 for second place.

Third place belonged to first round leader Murray Poje, who put together rounds of 68, 72 and 73 to finish the Championship at 3-under par, sharing third place with James Harper of McCleery Golf Course, who also finished at 3-under par. Both players took home $3,500 for their efforts.

The Big Sky Golf & Country Club proved to be an exceptional host to the Championship. The golf course was in outstanding condition, complimented with three days of gorgeous sunshine.

This year's BC PGA Championship marked the 35th playing of the event.

98 Professionals competed in the 54-hole Championship, which was cut to the low 60 professionals, including ties, after yesterday's second rounds.

This year's Championship marked the 7th consecutive under the title sponsorship of American Express, who have been a huge supporter of the BC PGA and its members for many years. Titleist/FootJoy also came on board as the co-title sponsor this year. The BC PGA is excited to have Titleist involved, an industry leader who has been a great supporter of the Association over the years.
