American Express - Titleist / Footjoy BCPGA Championship Presented By E-Z-Go

Salmon Arm Golf Club - Salmon Arm, BC

The first round of the 2005 American Express - Titleist /Footjoy BC PGA Championship Presented by E-Z-GO and the Senior Men's Divison commenced yesterday at the Salmon Arm Golf Club in Salmon Arm, BC.

The first round of both the Championship and Senior's Division was played in a Pro-Am format, which included professional participants teaming up with sponsors and local amateurs from the Okanagan - Shuswap region.

A competitive field of 111 BC PGA Professionals from across the province produced a healthy list of scores in the 1st Round Pro-Am format, despite cold temperatures and blustery conditions that included intermittent showers throughout the day.

At the end of the day, Craig Wilkinson of Olympic View Golf Club was on top of the leaderboard with a solid round of 4-under par 68 over Salmon Arm's par-72 layout. Nipping at his heels is a group of five professionals all of which posted 3-under par 69's. The list includes: Mike Longridge, Marine Drive GC; Jeff Buder, Point Grey GCC; Roy Abbenbroek, Seymour Golf & Country Club; Mike Haraguchi, Capilano CCC and Kevin Klebe from Valley Golf Centre.

The most impressive performance of the day came from Head Golf Professional Greg Pidlaski of Kelowna Golf & Country Club who posted a 2-under par 70, which has him leading the Senior Men's Division and within striking distance in the BC PGA in a T-7th place. The second and final round of the Senior Men's division goes today with the leaders teeing off at 11:30 am. The prize presentation will take place at 4:30 pm on the patio at Salmon Arm Golf Club.

Defending BC PGA Champion Fraser Mulholland shot a respectable round of 1-over par 73. Notables to look out for include: Murray Poje, 71; Steven MacPherson, 70; Phil Jonas, 72; Blair Piercy, 71 and Edd Boudreauu, 71.

Round 2 commences at 8:00 am on Tuesday at Salmon Arm Golf Club. The final 18 holes will take place on Wednesday, August 31st with tee times beginning at 8:00 am. Check back to www.bcpga.org for up-to-date results and scoring.
