Six Canadian teams vying for $217,000 in purse money at the Buick Scramble National Championship
Six Canadian teams accompanied by Canadian PGA Members will battle for bragging rights in a field of more than 200 teams this weekend at the 2005 Buick Scramble North American Championship, the world’s largest amateur tournament, October 13-16, 2005.
The event will be held once again at the Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando and the championship trophy is scheduled to be presented by Tiger Woods. The tournament is a 72-hole modified scramble competition with a cut after 54 holes to the low 24 teams in both net and gross divisions. Scores from the previous rounds are carried forward.
National Championships participants will compete for a $217,000 purse (cash for Professionals, gift certificates for amateurs) and a $20,000 first-place cheque will go to the winning Professional in both the gross and net divisions.
This is the third year that Canadian teams have advanced to Florida for the competition. Thirty-one teams competed at the Legends on the Niagara this past August in an 18-hole scramble with three Low Gross and three Low Net teams advancing.
