GREG NORMAN TO DESIGN GOLF COURSE IN PEACHLAND
Golf great Greg Norman received a lot of media attention in August when he took part in a news conference in Peachland announcing the planned development of a new $1-billion Ponderosa community, including a new golf course.
The new community is to be built by Treegroup Developments in collaboration with the Westbank First Nation on 400 acres above Peachland. Norman will design a new championship course on the former fairways of Ponderosa Golf Course.
The new community will include a village centre, winery, tennis facilities, golf academy, hotel and about 2,000 new homes – all to be built over a 15-year period.
The Greg Norman Championship Golf Course will offer scenic views and will be able to host world-class golf events, generating additional tourism dollars for the area. Plans call for it to open in the spring of 2011.
