Highland Pacific Golf Now Open - Vancouver Island
June 10, 2010. Victoria, BC. Victoria golfers have been patiently waiting for the second nine at Highland Pacific in Victoria to open, and their reward came this past Saturday with perfect weather for Opening Day. 144 people played, two hole-in-ones were made and over $7,000 was raised for Jeneece Place, the future home-away-from-home for families of sick kids visiting Victoria General Hospital.
In attendance for the ribbon cutting ceremony were Jeneece Edroff and her parents along with supporters Bruce Williams of A-Channel and Mel Cooper with the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children, acting mayor of View Royal Councillor Andrew Britton, Barrie McWha from the BC Golf House, Bob Saunders from Saunders Subaru, Kris Jonasson and Jim Lee of the BCGA, course architect Chris Young and many other friends of the Plasterer family. The Plasterers have been building Highland Pacific for fourteen years on the site straddling Saanich and View Royal municipalities.
Highland Pacific Golf was created for golfers who want to enjoy a scenic, challenging course that is playable all year round. The Pacific Nine, with its incredible vistas and rolling fairways, opened in October 2008 and the Highland Nine, characterized by incredible risk and reward holes, opened June 5, 2010. Total course yardage is 6,603 yards, par 71.
Highland Pacific Golf was recognized in the “Top 100 for 2008”, "Top 100 for 2009" and again in the “Top 100 for 2010” rankings done by Golf Range Magazine, one of only two ranges in BC to win that distinction. The Top 100 Golf Ranges in America are selected by Golf Range Magazine based on the following criteria: professionalism, community outreach and dedication to growing the game of golf.
