A windswept Whistler Golf Club causes havoc for the Lower Mainland Srixon Tour
With having a scorching summer the past two weeks, the conditions at Whistler Golf Club were not much different than at a typical U.S. Open venue minus the five inch rough.
You would think that firm fast fairways and greens stimping at 12 would be enough of a challenge, but with the winds gusting and swirling at 30 km/hr to boot, most players on the Srixon Tour found scoring to be quite a challenge for this their 11th event of the season.
With veteran like calmness and patience, Bryn Parry of Seymour Creek posted his 7th win on the tour this year, shooting a score of 71 and topping Tim Wilson of Quilchena and Jay Balloch of Sunshine Woods by one shot.
Parry has all but locked up his Order of Merit title this year on the Srixon Tour as he is nearly $2,000 ahead of second place Phil Jonas of McCleery Golf Club. With this distinction, Bryn would represent Team BC at the Canadian Assistant Pro Championships at Predator Ridge later this September.
The Srixon Tour’s 12th event comes next Tuesday, Aug.8th at Northview’s Ridge Golf Course in Surrey where Srixon looks to make it a third tournament in a row for winning the ball count over any other brand of ball.
