Mike Weir Helps To Raise Close To $1.2 Million For Provincial Children’s Hospital

At a celebratory community dinner last night, marking the end of the whirlwind “Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids,” eight-time winner on the PGA TOUR and 2003 Masters Champion Mike Weir presented a cheque for this 36-hour event to the Children’s Health & Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan in the amount of $1,181,625.

The “Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive for Kids” proudly sponsored by Concorde Group, is the largest single event in support of the Children’s Health & Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan (CHHF) as it embarks upon its campaign for the upcoming provincial Children’s Hospital.

Saskatchewan hospitality was in fine form this week to welcome Mike Weir and his family to the province for the first time. “The Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive For Kids is all about assisting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across Canada that do such a tremendous job helping our kids,” said Mike Weir. “I was very happy to be in Saskatchewan this week to help their community do such a wonderful job supporting their local children’s hospital. Their dedication to this important cause was a perfect example of what the Mike Weir Miracle Golf Drive For Kids strives to create across the country.”

“The Children’s Health & Hospital Foundation is deeply thankful to the sponsors, volunteers, and supporters from all across the country, who made these two days so special for everyone involved, particularly the children and families of Saskatchewan. The Mike Weir Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network® and the National Golf Course Owners Association created this event and chose Saskatchewan as the 2008 host and for that, we are extremely grateful,” says Brynn Boback-Lane, President & CEO, CHHF.

“The experience of gathering together and working with talented people with a vision of creating a once in a life time event for the entire province, has been humbling. Mike Weir is an outstanding ambassador for children. He’s a leader on and off the golf course and it’s been a privilege to take his event and with the help of so many others, create a lasting legacy for the children of our province,” said Event Chair Doug Hodson.
