PGA Tour Professional Anthony Kim Signs With Img
IMG, the world’s premier sports, entertainment and media company, announced today that PGA TOUR professional Anthony Kim has signed with IMG for worldwide management and marketing representation.
The 22-year old Kim is a rising young star in golf, earning his first professional victory at the Wachovia Championship last month by a tournament-record five shots, while also setting a tournament scoring record at 16 under par. The win moved him up in the Official World Rankings where he currently sits 19th. In addition to his win at the Wachovia Championship, he has also finished tied for second at the Verizon Heritage and tied for third at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic so far this year to earn him 11th place on the current year PGA TOUR Money List.
“Anthony Kim is well on his way to golf super stardom, and IMG is thrilled to be helping him manage his career and the many exciting opportunities that will undoubtedly develop for him around the world,” said Clarke Jones, Senior Vice President and Global Director Golf Clients for IMG. “Anthony is a very rare combination of youth, talent and marketability that will be great for the sport of golf for years to come.”
After a three-year collegiate career at the University of Oklahoma, Kim turned professional in 2006 and finished in a tie for second at his PGA TOUR debut at the 2006 Valero Texas Open before earning his card in 2007.
“I’m obviously very excited about the direction my career is headed in, and I know that having IMG in my corner will help me to be the best that I can be, both on the golf course and off,” said Kim, a Los Angeles native who now calls Dallas, Texas home. “Their expertise in all areas of sports and entertainment marketing and management, and especially in golf, is second to none and I’m looking forward to working with them.”
In 2005, Kim was a member of the victorious United States Walker Cup team along with J.B. Holmes, Nicholas Thompson and Jeff Overton, all rookies on the PGA TOUR in 2006.
