Paula Creamer To Compete At 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open

CN and the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) announced today that LPGA Tour star Paula Creamer will compete for the $2.25 million (US) purse at the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open, August 11-17 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.

Creamer, a five-time champion since turning professional in 2005, sits fourth on the current world rankings and third on the official LPGA Tour money list with over $558,000 in earnings this season. In only her fourth year as a professional, the 2005 LPGA Tour rookie of the year already ranks 28th on the all-time money list with over $4.5 million in career earnings. This past weekend, Creamer lost in a one-hole playoff – the first playoff of her young career – to finish runner-up at the Stanford International Pro-Am. The 21-year old returns to Canada after a stellar runner-up finish at last year’s CN Canadian Women’s Open at Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton.

“We are delighted to start building excitement for 2008 by adding Paula Creamer to what we expect will be a fantastic field in Ottawa,” said Sean Van Kesteren, Tournament Director, CN Canadian Women’s Open. “Paula is one of the LPGA Tour’s most recognizable young superstars and I’m sure she will be a fan-favourite come August at Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.”

The deadline for players to confirm their intention to compete at the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open in Ottawa is Tuesday, August 5.

The 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open will take place August 11-17 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the club. The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) has been designated as the official charity of the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open.

Tickets for the 2008 CN Canadian Women’s Open can be purchased online at www.cncanadianwomensopen.com or by calling 1-866-571-LPGA.
