Princeton Golf and Country Club

Princeton Golf club is 6,500 from the tips and it plays every inch of that. Besides its beauty, grooming and affordability, super friendly pro shop, what makes Princeton a great BC golf get away is its location.

From here you can be in Osoyoos in an hour, in Kelowna in 90 minutes or be back in Vancouver in 3 hours. Want to play Kamloops? You can play Princeton in the morning and be in Kamloops that afternoon.

Merritt, Penticton, Salmon Arm, Vernon are all not far away. For a treat stay at the famous Manning Park Lodge on your way in or back. It is just 70 minutes west of the 18th hole. Any wonder most call Princeton the Gateway Course to the Okanagan?

Overview of Princeton Golf & CC

The Back 9 is the Toughest
The back nine has three great par 3 holes. All play dramatically downhill and range from 160 yards to 210 yards. No water, very little bunkering, but you are being asked to throw darts into small greens. The toughest stretch of holes you’ll ever want to play are holes 13 through 17. This stretch includes some brutal par fives ranging from 510 to 540 yards long and all are true three shot holes.

The 14th is an up hill then down hill 540-yard par five that is Z shaped and Tiger himself couldn’t reach this puppy in two! The par five 16th is an uphill tee shot to a small landing area. From there you have the option of trying to clear the large 50-yard wide gully that runs across the fairway or laying short of it to the 150-yard marker. The green is set down in a hollow and it is very well hidden in the trees and heavily bunkered.

Some basic Princeton talk
In Princeton, as with all of the southern Cariboo and Okanagan regions, the summer time the temperatures can crack 35 degrees Celsius. In contrast to the first and last months of the season where the temperatures will hover around 10 degrees.

So, if you come for summertime vacation remember to watch your cigarette butts. Pack a lot of water and if walking is an issue please take a cart. The course is very hilly and combined with the heat this can make for a long day. The clubhouse is fully stocked, there is a small driving range and here the season is May 1st through to early October.

The town of Princeton is small but fully packed. All the name hotels are around with a personal recommendation going to the Sandman Inn, a full 6 minutes west of the course.
