BCPGA - Final Results of the Pro-Assistant Championship
The 2006 Wilson Staff / Hi-Tec BC PGA Pro-Assistant Championship presented by Weir Golf Premium kicked off Monday at the Dunes at Kamloops, welcoming 48 teams from around the province for a two-day team format featuring BC PGA Head / Executive Professionals and one of their Assistant Professionals.
At the end of day one Point Grey Golf & Country Club has shot out to the overnight lead heading into Tuesday's final round. The team featuring Head Golf Professional Jeff Buder and Assistant Trevor Hay blazed the course with a 10-under par 62 in the Modified Chapman Alternate Shot format. Their bogey free round included an eagle on the Par 5 11th hole, which propelled them to a back nine 30 at The Dunes. This leaves the Point Grey team two strokes ahead of the team from Quilchena Golf & C.C. of Head Golf Professional Doug Mahovlic and Assistant Tim Wilson who shot a 8-under par 64 on Monday.
Extremely warm temperatures and tough pin placements challenged the players all day at The Dunes, however the field as a whole performed impecably well over the 6,800 yard par 72 layout. In total, 28 teams broke par leaving a exciting battle in store for Tuesday's final round. Seven teams are currently within five shots of the lead with Tuesday's format being a two-man scramble.
In a tie for third place is The Havest Golf Club (Rob Anderson / Mark Lindsay and Seymour Creek Golf Centre (James Legault / Bryn Parry) who fired matching 7-under par 65.
