Sun Peaks Golf Course Opens this Saturday - May 24-2008
Golf season is set to begin at Sun Peaks Resort this weekend! The front 9 of the Sun Peaks Golf Course will be opening Saturday morning with the first tee off at 8am. The back 9 is scheduled to open a week later, on Saturday, May 31st.
“The warmer weather this past weekend has helped melt the last of the snow on the front 9. The greens are in great condition and we’re excited to welcome golfers up to Sun Peaks Resort for the summer,” commented Jamie Tattersfield, Mountain Operations Manager.
The Sun Peaks Golf Course is a natural, alpine mountain course, allowing players to enjoy the sounds, smells and sights of mountain life throughout the course along McGillivray Creek. Bears, deer, foxes and moose are all known to make an appearance during a round as well as eagles, osprey and whiskey jacks.
It’s a 6km journey around the full 18 holes and the course plays well for all levels. It’s not too long so a new golfer can get to the green in a few shots; however there are unique hazards that may make an experienced golfer think twice before they shoot.
