Svensson LEADS AFTER THREE ROUNDS at BC Amateur Championship
Castlegar, BC (July 22, 2010) – 2010 B.C. Junior Boys’ champion, Adam Svensson of Surrey, B.C. shot a blazing 3-under par 68 today to sit alone atop the leaderboard after the third round at the 2010 BC Amateur Championship at the Castlegar Golf Club in Castlegar, B.C.
With his three-day score of 67-71-68—206 (-7) score, Svensson enters Friday’s final round two strokes ahead of Justin Shin of Pitt Meadows, B.C. with a score of 5-under 208.
2009 B.C. Junior Boys’ champion, Riley Wheeldon of Comox, B.C. sits in third with 3-under 210 while 2004 Canadian amateur champion, Darren Wallace of Langley, B.C. jumped into fourth at 2-under 211.
Two day co-leader, Cory Renfrew, started the day in the lead with Svensson, but a double bogey at the ninth and bogeys at the seventh, tenth, thirteenth and seventeenth holes proved costly. He carded 3-over par 74 on the day and dropped to T5 at 1-under 212.
Defending champion, Daniel Brown of Kelowna, B.C. now sits at 1-over 214 for a tie in tenth.
The top two finishers along with Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C. and Eugene Wong of North Vancouver, B.C. will represent B.C. at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship at London Hunt/Redtail Golf Course in London, Ontario August 10 – 15.
Play continues tomorrow with the fourth and final round of competition commencing at 8:00 a.m. Friday, July 23.
