Svensson and Renfrew HOLD lead at BC Amateur Championship
Castlegar, BC (July 21, 2010) – Adam Svensson of Surrey, B.C. and Cory Renfrew of Victoria, B.C. again carded matching scores to finish round two at the 2010 BC Amateur Championship tied at 4-under par 138.
Defending champion, Daniel Brown of Kelowna, B.C. fired a 4-under par 67 to catapult to T3 with Justin Shin of Pitt Meadows, B.C. at 3-under 139.
Kevin Carrigan of Victoria, B.C., Parker Lilly of Victoria, B.C. and Adam Cornelson of Langley, B.C. share a piece of third at 2-under 140.
Following today’s competition the Zone and Club winners were announced.
Kevin Ko of Coquitlam, B.C. and Justin Shin of Pitt Meadows, B.C. from Swan-e-set Bay Resort Club claimed the club championship at 3-under 281.
From zone 6, Matt Cella and Sandy Harper playing out of Nanaimo Golf Club, Riley Wheeldon playing out of Crown Isle Golf Club and Cody Britz playing out of Morningstar Golf Club took the zone competition at 5-over 431.
The top two finishers along with Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C. and Eugene Wong of North Vancouver, B.C. will represent B.C. at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship at London Hunt/Redtail Golf Course in London, Ontario August 10 – 15.
Taylor and Wong were both given sponsor's exemptions into this week's Canadian Open at St. George's Golf & Country Club in Toronto.
Today, after the completion of the second round, the field was cut to the low 70 players and ties.
