TaylorMade-Adidas Golf signs on with CJGA

MARKHAM, ON- The Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA) is pleased to announce a new three-year partnership agreement with TaylorMade-adidas Golf (TMaG), a leading manufacturer in the golf industry, and PGA Tour professional Ian Leggatt.

The TaylorMade-adidas Golf Invitational hosted by Ian Leggatt will be a new event on the 2006 CJGA schedule. The tournament will feature all eligible division winners from the 2005 CJGA Ontario schedule and will be held at a private golf club in the Greater Toronto Area. Ian Leggatt will host the event and will participate in a media day the day before the first round of the tournament where he will play the course.

“We are excited to add TaylorMade-adidas Golf to the family of CJGA sponsors,” said Danny Fritz, chief operations officer for the CJGA. “To have a golfer of Ian Leggatt’s caliber and a high profile manufacturer such as TaylorMade-adidas Golf support our programs bodes well for the future of Canadian golf.”

Leggatt has assisted the CJGA in the past as the non-playing captain of CJGA Team Canada East at the 2005 Lipton Brisk Canada Cup. He also spoke with members of CJGA Team Canada in 2004 at a training camp hosted by CJGA national spokesperson Richard Zokol and has participated in the CJGA Fundraiser hosted by Richard Zokol for the past two years.

The CJGA TaylorMade-adidas Golf Ian Leggatt Invitational will be held in the early part of the 2006 season.

“I look forward to hosting the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Invitational,” said Leggatt, a member of the PGA Tour since 2001 and winner of the 2002 Tucson Open. “The level of junior golf in Canada has risen to new heights thanks to the CJGA and I expect a strong field of participants at the inaugural event.”

“We think that the TaylorMade-adidas Golf Invitational hosted by Ian Leggatt will be an exciting event for the elite junior golfer,” said Keith DeGrace, director of merchandising for TaylorMade-adidas golf. “We look forward to building a strong relationship with the CJGA and assisting them with their development of junior golf within Canada.”
