Victoria Choi leads 2010 BC Junior Girls’ Championship
Victoria, BC (July 6, 2010) – Victoria (Jisu) Choi of Langley B.C., opened the 2010 BC Junior Girls’ Championship by firing a 3-under par 69 to take the lead after the first round of play at Gorge Vale Golf Club in Victoria, B.C.
Choi played a solid first round and carded four birdies and one bogey on the day.
Trailing Choi is the only other competitor to break par on the course today, Jennifer Yang of Coquitlam, B.C. who shot a 1-under par 71.
Megan Osland of Kelowna, B.C. and Stephanie Wong of Richmond, B.C. finished the day at even par 72 and sit tied for third. Defending champion, A Ram Choi of Surrey, B.C. shares a piece of fifth with 2009 BC Bantam champion, Alix Kong of West Vancouver, B.C., 2009 BC Juvenile champion, Taylor Kim of Surrey, B.C., Amanda Baker of Nanaimo, B.C. and Lauren De Goey of Victoria, B.C.
The championship calls for 72 holes of stroke play including a zone championship. Play will commence at 7:30 a.m. from the #1 tee each day.
The top three finishers along with Christine Wong will represent B.C. at the Royale Cup Junior Girls’ Championship at Sawmill Creek Golf Resort in Camlachie, Ontario August 2-6, 2010.
