British Columbia selected as "2004 Undiscovered Golf Destination in the World"

In early December, the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) selected British Columbia as the "2004 Undiscovered Golf Destination in the World" at their 6th annual convention held in the Dominican Republic.

The Golf Travel Writers Association was invited to nominate and select the winner for this year. The criteria taken into consideration included: attractiveness of the region, golf course quality and accessibilty, standard of accommodation, friendliness of staff, value for money, speed of play and climate.

Rod Harris, president and CEO of Tourism British Columbia commented, "we are delighted that IAGTO has awarded this prestigious title to BC. The world is starting to recognize that British Columbia is a fantastic golf destination where visitors can enjoy great golf around the Province".

Also recognized were Ireland and Italy. Ireland received an award for "Established Golf Destination" and Italy was selected as "Emerging Golf Destination".
