WYATT CLAIMS WOMEN'S TITLE ON 3RD EXTRA HOLE

Jennifer Wyatt(left) of the Pacific Coast Golf Centre claimed her 3rd Nancy Lopez Golf BC Women's Open title today, making birdie on the 3rd playoff hole to overcome defending champion Leila Chartrand of Cordova Bay Golf Course.

Wyatt put together rounds of 71 and 70 for a 3-under par 141 finish, and Chartrand fired 70 and 71 herself to force the playoff.

This was the 3rd Women's Open title for Wyatt, who claimed her previous titles in 2001 and 2002.

Tied in 3rd place were Bianca Clark of Abbotsford, B.C, and Shelly Stouffer of the Fairwinds G & CC. Both finished at 3-over par 147, 6 shots off the pace. Stouffer will be competing in the BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open, July 8-11 at the Legends on the Niagara Falls in Ontario. Stouffer qualified by winning the first BMO series event this year, played May 16-18 at Swan-e-set Bay Resort.

Sue Kim(amateur), at 13 years old the youngest player in the field at the BC Women's Open, finished tied for 8th place, shooting back to back 76's for a 152 two-day total. Kim plays out of the Redwoods Golf Course.

The BC PGA, BC LGA, Nancy Lopez Golf and The Redwoods Golf Course are proud to present a great Championship. This year is an exciting progression for the event as the BC PGA and the BC LGA have joined forces to create a truly “open” championship for women in British Columbia.
