CANADIAN LADIES' GOLF ASSOCIATION DONATE $250,000 IN MARLENE STREIT'S NAME

The Canadian Ladies' Golf Association (CLGA) announced today that it will donate a record $250,000 to the Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) Foundation and in doing so honour Canada's greatest female amateur golfer - Marlene Streit.

The $250,000 contribution named the 'Marlene Streit Scholarship Fund' is the largest scholarship fund for women golfers in Canada and is the biggest donation ever given by the CLGA.

The Marlene Streit Scholarship Fund will award annual scholarships to support the best Canadian female golfers attending Canadian Universities. The RCGA Foundation will administer the fund and award multiple scholarships each year.

"It is our pleasure to make this contribution under the name of one of the finest female golfers to ever to play the game," said CLGA President, Carole Mix. "She has done so much for women's golf in Canada that when determining a name for this fund it was an easy decision to honour our greatest
ambassador."

"Marlene's contribution to golf is tremendous and she has been an outstanding role model for all Canadian golfers," said Jim Fraser, Executive Director of the RCGA Foundation. "With her induction into the World Golf Hall of Fame last week, we are pleased to have Marlene's name helping fund
Canada's up and coming female golfers."

Streit, who was in Vancouver for the official announcement at the CLGA Annual General Meeting, was ecstatic to be a part of a substantial fund to help women's golf.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to lend my name to a scholarship fund that will help young Canadian golfers," said Streit. "It's an unbelievable honour and I'm thankful the CLGA thought of me. It is truly an honour."

The RCGA Foundation supports the athletic and academic careers of promising Canadian golfers and students of the industry by offering financial assistance through scholarships and awards. The Foundation established its
scholarship program in 1982 and has since awarded 397 promising young golfers, turfgrass scientists and landscape architects a total of 532 scholarships valued at over $1,500,000.
