MJT Team Canada Heading to USA

Tsawwassen, B.C. – The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, Canada’s only national junior tour run by Golf Professionals, is pleased to announce the members of MJT Team Canada who will compete at the 54th annual East Aurora International Junior Masters at East Aurora Country Club in East Aurora, New York, USA on June 26-30, 2006. The week-long event is one of America's oldest and most prestigious junior events attracting players from South Africa, Mexico, France, Scotland, Japan, Colombia, Peru and the United States.

The following team, sponsored by Travel Underwriters, Official International Events Partner of the MJT, qualified via a series of tournaments conducted by the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour across Canada:

Zach MacDougall, 17, of Coquitlam, British Columbia (Vancouver Golf Club)
Ryan Terdik, 16, of Mt. Pleasant, Ontario (Brantford Golf and Country Club)
Josh Bamberger, 16, of Waterloo, Ontario (Foxwood Golf Club)
Andrew Funk, 17, of Edmonton, AB (Edmonton Petroleum Club).

About the 54th Annual East Aurora International Junior Masters at East Aurora Country Club in East Aurora, New York, USA First played in 1953, the EAIJM is conducted using the same format as the RCGA Canadian Amateur with participants playing 36 holes of stroke play to qualify for match play. The twist is the EAIJM has 4 flights, Championship, Gold, Silver and Bronze where the Amateur has only one flight. The Championship flight is reserved for the top 32 stroke play qualifiers and the winner receives full AJGA exempt status including an invitation to the AJGA Rolex Tournament of Champions, Polo Golf Junior Classic and the AJGA hp Boys Junior Championship. The top 4 results receive two AJGA exemptions and the top 8 receive one AJGA exemption. It is also part of the Polo Junior All-American Points Series, GolfWeek/Sagarin and Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings. Past contestants and winners include PGA Tour regulars Billy Mayfair, Billy Andrade, Dudley Hart, Jeff Sluman, Joey Sindelar and Rory Sabbatini.
