Royal Colwood Golf Club Set To Host CN Future Links Pacific Championship
Many of Canada’s top junior golfers will gather in Victoria from March 29 – April 1 as CN Future Links kicks off its eighth championship season with the CN Future Links Pacific Championship at Royal Colwood Golf Club.
This marks the first of six regional CN Future Links Championships held in each region of Canada and showcases four age divisions: Junior Boys (14-18 years), Junior Girls (14-18 years), Bantam Boys (11-13 years) and Bantam Girls (11-13 years). The CN Future Links Pacific Championship will see 100 golfers competing in a three-day 54-hole stroke play competition.
Royal Colwood will host a stellar field featuring last year’s Pacific Junior Boy’s champion, Eugene Wong of North Vancouver, 2006 CN Future Links Boy’s Order of Merit champion Mathieu Rivard of Granby, Que., 2006 CN Future Links Girl’s Order of Merit runner-up Jessica Wallace of Langley, B.C. and Anica Yoo of Port Coquitlam, B.C., who of is the returning 2006 Pacific Bantam Girls champion. The field will also feature the entire roster of 2007 National Junior Team.
“As the CN Future Links Championships continue to grow, we’ve seen a tremendous jump in terms of depth and strength of our fields,” said Nathan Brooks, Tournament Director for the CN Future Links Pacific Championship. “The calibre of play at these events is very impressive and judging by the field we’re expecting at Royal Colwood, I’d say we’re in for another fantastic showcase of talent.”
As part of the 2007 Pathway to Champions, competitors in the Junior Boy’s competition will compete for six exemptions into the 2007 Canadian Junior Boy’s Championship held August 5-9, 2007 at Elm Ridge Country Club in Ile Bizard, Que. The Junior Girl’s competitors will vie for an exemption into the CN Canadian Women’s Tour.
Now in its eighth year, the CN Future Links Championships have established a reputation as the premier junior golf circuit in Canada. With more than 500 participants annually in six regional championships across Canada, CN Future Links continues to raise the bar for junior golf nationwide.

-- With a win Dustin Zang of Calgary and Jessica Wallace of Langley B.C. can tie Eom-Ji Park of Vancouver for career victories at CN Future Links Championships. Zang and Wallace both own three bantam titles while Park has earned four junior titles.
-- Royal Colwood last hosted the CN Future Links Pacific Championship in 2003 with Patrick Ericson of Langley, B.C. taking the Junior Boy’s crown and Eom-Ji Park of Vancouver winning the Girls division. Dustin Zang of Calgary and Jessica Wallace of Langley, B.C. were the respective Bantam champions and will compete in the junior ranks this week.
-- Now in its eighth season, CN Future Links has helped develop a number of young Canadian talents, including BC’s James Lepp of Abbotsford and National Amateur Team member and junior sensation Maude-Aimée LeBlanc of Windsor, Que. Recently turned professional and three-time Canadian Men’s Amateur Champion Richard Scott of Kingsville, Ont. is also a Future Links alumni.
