Beautiful scenery, and a very well maintained course. At 6,290 yards from the tips, it's fairly short for a Par 71, but still a good challenge, especially if it's windy. There's water on just 8 holes, so you won't lose many golf balls on this one. Most of the course is straight with 6 holes with doglegs. Seems like the pace of play is fairly fast, we played in 3 hours, with not much waiting at all. The green fee for a Tuesday midday was $43, which is cheap for a full length courses in the Lower Mainland. Definetly worth the price during the week.

I always enjoy playing Mt. Doug. The course is well maitained and for the cost it is a win win. I love the fact that someone can enjoy a round of golf have fun be challenged and be able to golf without the insane greens fees of other courses.

Way to go kudos to the owner and the staff.

Played on 2010-08-20 @ REDWATER GOLF CLUB located in Redwater, AB, Canada

Redwater Golf Course is a great golf course for the family. Featuring the infamous #3, a 123 yard Par 3 which holds a back-to-front sloping green, encompassed by trees and fronted by 2 ponds. Also having a very long Par 5 and numerous doglegs, this course is challenging due to its tricky fast greens, but it also has very forgiving fairways and shallow sand bunkers. It is a great time and is very cheap if you want 9 holes of fun exhilirating golf.

Played on 2010-08-15 @ GUILDFORD GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB located in Surrey, BC, Canada

Would not play at this course again
Greens and generally grounds in terrible condition - Green chewed up, tee boxes are a mess, no one replaces divots, need a 4x4 for cart paths.
Overpriced, 3 out of 4 golf bags fell off cart, this resulted in one of our foursomes new driver breaking, Course marshall is a little over zealous, finished course in about 4.25/4.5 hours, he kept telling us we were jamming up, people behind us delayed our game as they kept hitting off our fairway when we were trying to tee off. Also on first hole they were teeing off when we were on second shot. Staff could care less about customer service

My wife and I enjoyed this new, scenic and challenging course. We encountered great people and had a very enjoyable stay at Quaaout Lodge--good food, pleasant staff and superior accomodation. We will be back.

Played on 2010-08-07 @ TALL TIMBERS GOLF COURSE located in Langley, BC, Canada

Course is in the category of "pasture golf," synomomous with the way golf was meant to be played, on land that is as nature created it, not on a pristine, over fertilized, with tile type of fairways. That said, this is a beautiful piece of property, better than would be hard to find. each hole is individual, with masterfully situated trees and water throughout. A pristine, crisp fairway type course? No, just one that is naturally beautiful, with minimal, to say the least, upgrading. if you want a spectacular walk in the park spoiled by the occasional (18 in fact) holes to put your ball in, then this is your place. It is serene beyond anything else in the Vancouver area.

Played on 2010-08-05 @ PREDATOR RIDGE GOLF RESORT - New Ridge Course located in Vernon, BC, Canada

This course is spectacular.Great views and interesting holes with a lot of elevation change.Carts only but all holes play mostly down hill.I have played a lot of courses in the Kootenays and the Okanagan and this must be one of the very best.If you like Greywolf you will really enjoy the ridge, same architect. The accommodation in the lodge and the restaurant is five star.

The course itself is well maintained and in a very nice setting....however, the staff and management are the worst I have ever experienced in over 20 years of playing golf in Western Canada. During our 8 holes of golf (rained out....without a rain check or even a hint of consideration), we were followed by the marshall for over 4 holes, without reason. We had booked a foursome for the day but one of our players couldn't make it. Upon explaining the situation to the management, we were advised that a $40 penalty would be levied or we would not be allowed to play and everyone would be charged for the round. This is despite the fact that the two groups in front of us were a threesom and a twosome. If the intention of the management and staff is to drive people away from this course...congratulations, you are succeeding in your goal. This experience has ensured that I will never play this course again and will communciate the absolute terrible experience to all that I know....horrific time that could have been a pleasant day. Get rid of the management and staff, and I will consider coming back...until then, no chance.

Message from the Publisher - there have been several reviews about Twin Lakes in recent weeks and after an indepth conversation with one of the owners and have been provided some editorial that will hopefully address this issue and re-gain consumer confidence that Twin Lakes is trying hard to improve the course conditions and playing experience.

Twin Lakes Golf Course Conservation Practices for a Sustainable Golf Course
Our goals at Twin Lakes have been to make significant and distinctive changes in the golf course maintenance practices with environmental stewardship and resource management forming the basis for the improved playing conditions.
Twin Lakes is in the first steps of conserving and prioritizing resources, especially water. Many Changes have taken place at Twin Lakes over the past year and this is long overdue.
Today’s turf management practices demand the conservation of water, fertilizers, and machinery use. The conservation practices on golf courses in the USA, Europe, and Australia are an established way of life and this world wide movement is here to stay. We are just beginning these practices. By following these methods of conservation, we can focus more efforts on the main playing surfaces and conserve resource from out of play areas. This will help in developing a golf course that is sustainable.
The result is a more manicured playing surface (greens, tees, fairways) that I hope you are experiencing during your round. Some rough may be brown but it should not impede play. The rough may be brown and natural areas may require a more disciplined manor of playing golf, but the days of being able to take a shot from most anywhere on the property are gone. Look around the terrain at Twin Lakes and see how little natural green you see. It’s pretty hard to play golf on sagebrush. It is a small price to pay for conservation, but it must take precedent. We are all residents of planet earth and all of us need to point our direction to the common good, even golfers.

Please if you have had a poor experience at Twin Lakes do not hesitate to call the proshop and speak with Head Professional Greg Pidlaski.

Played on 2010-07-22 @ SHADOW MOUNTAIN GOLF COURSE located in Cranbrook, BC, Canada

Shadow Mountain markets itself in the region as a premium golf course worthy of your $100 plus dollars for a round. I'm from Cranbook, BC, and when a new "premium" golf course in the region comes out, it has the town talking. So here I am as a weekend 12 handicap golfer, expecting the best that BC has to offer. Yeah, I heard the course is still premature and and isn't deserving of any type of respect yet, but I looked beyond that. I was hoping that the beautiful rocky mountains and an "attempt" to to be an upscale golf course would satisfy my golfing desires. Well I was wrong.

The practice facilities are decent. The grass is short, and there are many greens that you can shoot at, which give you a pretty good feel for how you would be hitting the ball on the course. However, once you start playing, you begin to notice the many flaws and inadequacies that make this course a $60-$80 dollar "mediocre" golf course at best.

For one, there are many patches of nothing on fairways. You can hit a perfect drive, but be stuck in a location that looks like you are in the middle of a balding 40 year old's head. Also, the third hole has a massive electricity pole sitting in the middle of the fairway. I've played a lot of golf in all different parts of Canada, and have never seen anything like this in my life. I hit a perfect drive on this hole in the middle of the fairway, and was punished with a massive pole with wires preventing me from attacking the pin. Something I've never seen before in my 15 years of golfing.

The greens are rock solid, and don't hold your iron shots but they are great to put on. In terms of putting, they are fast and true. In terms of hitting shots at them, they are a nightmare. I hit my 3-iron shots 220 yards with a fairly high trajectory, and when I land it at the front of the green, there is no chance at keeping it on the green. In other words, the greens are rock solid and it is difficult to be rewarded for a good shot. I found this most frustrating.

Aside from many unpaved roads, horrendous service that makes you feel like you are being watched and punished for every little wrong thing you on the course, the course itself is decent. NOT worth the amount they are asking for NOW though. Not even close. For the amount they ask, I will play two rounds at the nearby Bootleg Gap or St. Eugene's golf courses because they are better courses. It's a bonus on the side that they're less demanding on your wallet. I hope this review is of help to everyone who reads it. Trust me, you'll concur.
